Violent Crash in Queens Injures Six

A serious collision in Queens has left six people injured after a BMW collided with a highway median, vaulted over a barrier, and struck two oncoming vehicles, according to police reports.

The incident occurred early Saturday morning, around 6 a.m., when the 24-year-old driver of a white 2015 BMW lost control near Exit 17 of the Belt Parkway, close to Cross Bay Boulevard. It appears the driver hit a concrete barrier before careening into a 2016 Honda CRV and a 2022 red Hyundai.

Images from the scene reveal the substantial damage, indicating the BMW ended up on top of one of the vehicles involved.

Authorities reported that both the BMW driver and a female passenger were transported to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition; unfortunately, her age remains unknown.

The 34-year-old woman driving the Hyundai was taken to the hospital but listed as stable, officers noted.

Photographs depict not just the wreckage but also show victims being rushed to ambulances, while emergency responders assisted others at the scene.

Among the injured were a 21-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man who were traveling in the BMW, both of whom were later reported in stable condition.

The impact was severe enough that the hood of the BMW appeared to be sheared off entirely.

While it’s still unclear what caused the driver to lose control, police are looking into the possibility that speed might have played a role.

Interestingly, baby seats were spotted at the scene, but law enforcement confirmed that no minors were among those injured.

The NYPD’s crash investigation team is currently examining the circumstances surrounding this wreck.
