Kevin Durant Joins the Houston Rockets

Kevin Durant is set to join his fifth NBA team this year. Over the weekend, he officially became part of the Houston Rockets after the first major trade involving seven teams wrapped up.

Reflecting on his time with the Suns, Durant expressed excitement about this new chapter, saying, “Lots of love for Arizona. Houston, I can’t wait!” He shared this sentiment on social media.

Recently, in a candid conversation with his former coach, Steve Nash, Durant reminisced about his experiences with the Brooklyn Nets. He recalled a discussion they had—just before a game in Portland—about the future. “Who am I spending the next five years with?” he remembered pondering.

Durant mentioned that while he and Nash had a good understanding, there were elements affecting the team’s atmosphere. “It feels like we’re locked up on the same page, trying to do something special,” Durant observed. “But at times, it felt like your hands were tied.” Nash agreed, admitting that he felt limited in his coaching abilities during that period.

Durant reflected on this, suggesting that Nash’s full potential as a coach wasn’t realized. He described his time with the Nets as “strange,” yet he also spoke fondly about his experiences there, highlighting the enjoyment he found in playing. “That first year, some of the most fun I had,” he recalled. “I really enjoyed Brooklyn, but it felt like not everyone was fully committed, which made things weird.”

Joining the Nets in 2019, Durant came off a couple of successful seasons with the Golden State Warriors, where he won two NBA Finals. Despite dealing with an Achilles injury during his final season with Golden State, he played 129 games over his three years with the Nets.
