After four years of leadership, leading Congressional Democrats unexpectedly request the White House to release Epstein files

Democrats in Congress urged Attorney General Pam Bondy on Tuesday to disclose evidence related to Epstein that reportedly touches on President Donald Trump.

Jamie Ruskin, a Maryland Democrat and a key member of the House Judiciary Committee, along with Democrat Dan Goldman, led this initiative. In a letter to Bondy, they requested the release of Epstein-related documents the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI are said to have withheld, which allegedly involve Trump. The letter claims there is no evidence that the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein kept a client list.

It criticized Bondy’s approach, suggesting that her actions raised concerns and indicated that the DOJ might be utilized to conceal misconduct involving the president.

“In February 2025, you faced significant public backlash after releasing only the ‘first stage’ of the roughly 200-page Epstein file, which largely consisted of already public information,” the letter stated, noting that Bondy supposedly redirected numerous FBI agents to evaluate the file. The letter also mentioned that in April, the FBI had claimed it was reviewing Epstein’s extensive collection of videos and child pornography.

The letter pointed to a recent announcement from the Trump administration regarding Epstein. “This brings up whether the White House intervened to prevent the declassification and full disclosure of the Epstein file due to its ties to President Trump, and if these extensive edits and file withholding were intended to shield your boss from potential embarrassing revelations,” it suggested.

FBI Director Kash Patel mentioned during his confirmation hearing that he intended to release the Epstein file to ensure “the American people understand the full scope of what occurred.” Recently, the FBI stated that any further disclosures would be “suitable or guaranteed.”

The letter also touched on Elon Musk, stating that he asserted Trump is included in the Epstein files, a claim related to a post deleted by a former head of a government department.

Moreover, Democrats requested that Bondy disclose a confidential report prepared by special advisor Jack Smith, alleging that she and other DOJ officials are broadly covering for Trump. They also nominated Associate Attorney General Todd Blanche, asserting that the DOJ is functioning as “Trump’s personal law firm.”
