Doctor Kevin O’Connor from the Biden administration arrives for questioning in House health investigation

Update on Biden’s Health Inquiry

Dr. Kevin O’Connor, President Biden’s physician, appeared for a deposition that was concluded on Wednesday. The House Oversight Committee is looking for insights from past doctors who served Biden. Interestingly, O’Connor chose not to respond to various questions posed by Fox News, particularly regarding the confidentiality between doctors and patients, and the mental state of the former president when he attended the meeting.

The White House has waived certain privileges, which complicates its ability to decline requests to testify based on the belief that conversations with the president should remain protected.

Despite this, O’Connor’s legal team cautions that his testimony might breach patient confidentiality, potentially jeopardizing his medical license. GOP Senator Roger Marshall acknowledges that both parties have legitimate concerns, but the committee criticized this as a stalling tactic, warning that non-compliance could result in minor infractions.

Republicans are particularly interested in understanding the nature of any medical tests conducted and whether Biden’s close aides have pressured O’Connor about the president’s fitness for office.

Details have emerged about Jill Biden’s associate, Anthony Bernthal, being called in after the deposition, along with key figures such as Ron Crane, Steve Richetti, and Ashley Williams.

As of now, the committee has conducted one interview. In this session, they spoke with Neela Tanden, Biden’s former domestic policy director, who mentioned he was permitted to use an autopen but was uncertain about who ultimately approved this within the president’s inner circle.

Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer, has voiced significant concerns: “With the recent revelations about health issues, especially a cancer diagnosis, people are wondering if the president dealt with this during his tenure,” he stated. He emphasized the importance of transparency regarding the president’s health, noting that the American people deserve to know about both the physical and mental condition of their leader.

Comer further asserted that O’Connor should not hide behind patient confidentiality, dismissing the notion that it could shield him from scrutiny.
