Pamela Anderson is navigating a fresh chapter in her life at 58, moving beyond her past as a well-known sex symbol. In a recent podcast with Elizabeth Day, she expressed her discomfort with the label, stating, “I don’t like being a sex symbol, which means I don’t think it’s very sexy.” She acknowledged the attention that came with it but implied that such visibility can be problematic.
Anderson desires a more natural self-presentation in today’s world. She mentioned that she aims to challenge herself and embrace her multifaceted identity as a woman. “We’re not just wildlife between the sheets,” she remarked, highlighting the complexity of women’s experiences beyond societal expectations.
Reflecting on her past, she admitted that she had high expectations for herself and others, which she feels were “sometimes pretty harsh.” However, she’s content with where she is now, realizing that her life experiences have shaped who she is. “I’ve come to have those experiences, and those are all parts of me,” she added.
The actress, known for her role as CJ Parker in “Baywatch,” spoke about how her career impacted her. She reflected on the lasting impression of being identified solely as “the girl in a red bathing suit.” That connection still lingers, and she believes many others may feel similarly.
Anderson shared her struggle to redefine her image, embarking on what she describes as “excavation” of her true self. Over the past few years, she’s been working to rediscover her original thoughts and desires while learning from past challenges.
More recently, Anderson appears more comfortable showing her natural self. She mentioned that beauty shouldn’t be confined to conventional standards, stating, “Beauty is subjective and doesn’t have to look like a magazine cover.” She reminisced about a time at an event in Paris where she chose to forgo heavy makeup to appreciate the architecture instead, questioning the need for constant appearances.
As she moves forward, Anderson makes it clear that she’s not interested in keeping up with younger trends. In her words, “It was given to us to look as young as possible,” but her journey is more about self-acceptance than conforming to any outside expectations.
