The Valley Star Addresses Online Hate Towards Co-Star

Jesse Lally, a star from “The Valley,” has spoken out against the negative reactions directed at his co-star, Janet Caperna, after her recent foray into social media.

During an episode of Radio Andy’s “Julia Cunningham Show”, Lally was asked about the “toxic response” from viewers, particularly towards Caperna.

“It’s interesting what people think they know about Janet,” he said, pointing out how viewers are quick to critique based on her past and her choices. “They keep asking about her relationship with Jason and her previous marriage, but really, they don’t have the full picture,” the 43-year-old added.

“These questions just keep coming, as if they’re trying to weave themselves into her story rather than focus on their own,” he noted.

“It seems like people respond to her vulnerability, especially when she’s involved in dramatic situations,” he reflected.

When host Julia Cunningham mentioned the label of “fangirl” attached to Caperna, Lally admitted, “I hate to say it, but that’s part of what we signed up for.”

He also dismissed rumors suggesting that Caperna and her family fled to Switzerland due to threats from online trolls.

Lally shared, “I actually think Switzerland is quite nice. One of my best friends lives in Zurich, and we recently talked about summer plans — maybe Lake Como too.” He mentioned it was a planned vacation, not an escape from negativity.

He stressed that Caperna’s visit to Europe wasn’t necessarily a reaction to criticism, even if, yes, “Switzerland is a great place to get away from it all.”

Interestingly, just a week ago, Janet had hinted at her move to Europe while she was in Switzerland with her husband, Jason, and their young son, Cameron.

After receiving disturbing messages on social media, Caperna made her Instagram account private. Reports indicated that she received death threats and racial slurs from trolls.

One message she shared with the Daily Mail read, “I hope you will corrupt it as you deserve.” Another was even more threatening, claiming to know details about her child.

During a podcast episode on “This Side of the Hill,” Caperna struggled to read through some of the hateful messages, describing them as dark and harmful.

She said, “Those types of threats are something I never expected when I joined reality TV. It’s really upsetting that people can go that far.” She emphasized her caution regarding what she shares online, particularly concerning her family.

Caperna concluded, “If someone resorts to using racial slurs to intimidate you, then maybe reality TV isn’t for them.” She expressed her weariness over the threats, reminding everyone that they signed up for the show, but not for the kind of hate that sometimes comes with it.

Efforts to seek more comments from Lally remain ongoing.
