Investigation into July 4 Brawl Involving Former NHL Player
Nick Tarnasky, who is currently coaching in a minor hockey league, is facing scrutiny after an alleged incident on a golf course in Canada. Reports indicate that the former NHL player was involved in a physical altercation with another man.
In a statement to TMZ on Tuesday, Tarnasky’s team, the Red Deer Minor Hockey U17, confirmed they are looking into the situation. “Since the local police are reviewing the matter, we are conducting our own internal investigation. Therefore, we won’t be making further comments,” they mentioned.
Interestingly, while the hockey club is investigating the brawl, local authorities do not appear to be actively pursuing the case. According to police, they responded to a call about the fight but closed the investigation shortly after concluding that the suspect had already left the scene.
The incident reportedly occurred at the Alberta Springs Golf Course in Red Deer, Alberta. It seems another individual had a confrontation with someone believed to be Tarnasky. Witnesses say that tensions escalated, with the former NHL player allegedly throwing a few punches and even taking the other man to the ground before bystanders intervened.
Details indicate that the brawl unfolded around 5:47 PM on July 4. Tarnasky’s background includes professional time in the NHL, AHL, and KHL, having been drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2003. After initially playing in 12 games for the Lightning during the 2005-06 season, he became a regular player for the next two years.
His career also included time with the Nashville Predators and two seasons with the Florida Panthers, but his last stint in the NHL was during the 2009-10 season.
