Historic Victory Marking a New Era for American Families

In a significant election outcome, over 77 million Americans supported President Trump and the Republican Party, highlighting a commitment to tax cuts, border security, and prioritizing workers’ families. This achievement is viewed as the dawn of a prosperous era, promising substantial changes.

This victory resonates deeply with American families, seniors, small businesses, and military personnel. As the vice-chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, I have taken pride in championing an America-first agenda that aligns with Trump’s campaign promises.

Key elements of this legislation address numerous long-standing priorities. The tax reforms and job initiatives initiated in 2017 are now permanent, aiming to lighten financial burdens for homeowners and small businesses while eliminating federal taxes on tips. This legislation will make a real difference for millions of job creators.

Voters recognized that electing Republicans would restore effective leadership focused on American interests. This comprehensive bill aims to honor that trust, cementing our commitments to the public.

Grounded in common sense and the foundational principles of America, the legislation intends to uplift working families and revive economic opportunities. Without this vital bill, families in my district would have faced a $1,700 tax hike. Thankfully, our law prevents that scenario, allowing many hardworking Americans to keep more of their earnings. For an average family with two kids, take-home pay could increase by up to $12,700. It also ensures child tax credits remain permanent, reduces tax rates, doubles the standard deduction, and prioritizes hardworking families.

Ending taxes on tips and overtime was one of Trump’s most popular campaign promises. This legislation eliminates federal income taxes on these earnings, significantly aiding countless workers, such as servers, nurses, and law enforcement officers, who often work extended hours. These changes deliver essential economic security to many citizens.

Supporting families inherently means fostering the small businesses that employ them. Our bill provides crucial support to over 30 million small businesses, a cornerstone of the economy. Without this legislation, Main Street could have faced an alarming tax rate of 43.4%. This initiative aims to honor and expand the gains from the 2017 tax cuts, making them permanent, and facilitating immediate cost recovery while enhancing incentives for research and development.

These tax policies are instrumental in allowing small and medium-sized enterprises to grow, hire, and invest in their workforce. Moreover, the bill encourages businesses to bring vital supply chains back home, bolstering the economy and creating new job prospects in America.

Seniors will also experience significant advantages. This issue is particularly important to me, as my district is home to nearly 200,000 seniors, with over 5 million across Florida. Our legislation allocates $75 billion in targeted assistance to help cover essentials like food, housing, and prescription medications.

Additionally, we raise standard deductions for low- and middle-income seniors, enabling them to retain more of what they have earned throughout their lives. A notable 88% of seniors receiving Social Security won’t have to pay taxes on their benefits, offering genuine peace of mind.

The legislation also implements the largest reduction in government spending in U.S. history, saving more than $1.7 trillion by eliminating waste and abuse without affecting those truly in need. This includes sensible Medicaid reforms, such as excluding illegal immigrants from taxpayer-funded health plans and strengthening support for vulnerable populations while instituting job requirements for healthy adults.

For far too long, taxpayers in more conservative states have subsidized expansions in Medicaid enacted by Democratic-led states under the Affordable Care Act. Our bill ensures that resources are directed to those who genuinely require assistance.

“One Big and Beautiful Bill” represents the values that have fortified America and secured Trump’s bid for a second term: diligence, safety, and opportunity. This is a pivotal moment for our nation, one that I take immense pride in. It is a win for families, seniors, small businesses, and all Americans who aspire to fulfill their dreams.
