Amazon Prime Video Looks to Steph Curry for Future Broadcasting Role

As Steph Curry continues to shine in his illustrious NBA career, it seems that Amazon Prime Video is eyeing him as a potential analyst for when he eventually retires.

In a clear initial move to attract him, Amazon has brought in Steph’s father, Dell Curry, as an analyst for the upcoming NBA season.

The NBA announced that Dell Curry will be joining the broadcaster’s lineup next season.

Having carved out a 16-year career in the NBA, Dell Curry, who ranks as the second all-time scorer for the Hornets, has spent the last ten years serving as a color commentator for Charlotte.

Next season, he’ll join Stan Van Gundy and Brent Barry as game analysts.

This trio will collaborate with a play-by-play team that includes Kevin Harlan, Michael Grady, Ian Eagle, and Eric Collins, along with sideline reporters Cassidy Hubbarth, Ally Clifton, and Christina Pink.

Amazon secured the rights to broadcast the NBA through an extensive 11-year, $76 billion deal involving the league, Amazon, NBC, and Disney.

Reports indicate that Amazon contributes approximately $1.8 billion annually for its share of the rights.

While Curry has not indicated any immediate retirement plans, he has suggested a keen interest in broadcasting after his playing days are over.

Earlier this month, Curry mentioned he would “certainly consider” a future behind the mic, though he aims to be more patient than someone like Tom Brady, who quickly transitioned to broadcasting after his NFL career.

“I’m thinking about the right opportunity for me,” Curry noted. “Whatever I choose, I want to give it my all. Right now, I’m just exploring the various options.”

For now, though, Curry is focused on the upcoming seasons with the Warriors, eager to remain competitive in the challenging Western Conference.
