Big Boxing Trilogy Returns This Friday
This Friday night marks a significant moment in boxing with the third bout between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano. The match will take place at Madison Square Garden, the setting of their first encounter in 2022, which was historic as the first women’s main event at this iconic venue.
In their previous fights, Taylor, from Ireland, came out on top against Serrano, who hails from Puerto Rico. The first match concluded with a split decision in Taylor’s favor, while the second—the controversial unanimous decision—occurred amidst a joint main event featuring Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.
Taylor recently sustained an injury from a headbutt, resulting in a noticeable scar and a point deduction. In contrast, Serrano managed to land 107 punches overall during their last encounter.
Despite these challenges, there’s a sense that it’s time for a change. Naxa Vidalian, a co-founder of the promotion company alongside Paul, emphasized that Serrano needs a fresh strategy. “She has to go out and do something different,” Bidarian stated in a recent discussion about the upcoming fight.
When asked about her motivation for the match, Taylor admitted, “I need this fight more than I do,” although she expressed a desire to be part of a memorable showdown.
As they prepare to step into the ring again, there’s a palpable tension. Bidarian mentioned that Taylor is eager to silence any doubts about her past victories. “It’s kind of annoying to hear people say you didn’t win,” he noted, highlighting the importance of making a definitive statement in this third bout. Fans are excited, and many view this as one of the most significant trilogies in sports history. Despite the 2-0 scorecard for Taylor, the fights have been tightly contested, raising anticipation for this third installment.
As for predictions? Vidarian didn’t hold back, asserting, “Amanda Serrano by halt, that’s what’s down.” It’s stirring up interest as the fight approaches.
