O’Connor’s Silence Fuels Controversy
The ongoing Autopen scandal shows no signs of resolution, particularly as Dr. Kevin O’Connor, the White House doctor, has opted not to respond to questions from Congress regarding his experiences during President Biden’s administration.
When asked two specific questions by Blazetv host Sarah Gonzalez, O’Connor remained silent, which raised eyebrows. The questions were: “Have you ever been told to lie about the president’s health?” and “Have you ever believed President Biden wasn’t fit for his role?”
For those observing, his silence spoke volumes, especially in light of noticeable concerns about Biden’s health. O’Connor’s legal team claims that doctor-patient privilege underpins his refusal to answer.
His lawyer stated, “This committee is disregarding essential doctor-patient privileges, a foundation of medical ethics.” They emphasized that disclosing sensitive patient information could endanger O’Connor’s medical license and could lead to civil liability since he holds the oaths of confidentiality, including for President Biden.
However, Gonzalez raised a critical point: “Answering if you’ve been asked to lie about the president’s health doesn’t expose any specific medical details. It doesn’t infringe upon the HIPAA Act.” She continued, expressing skepticism about their stance, suggesting it’s an attempt to maintain a facade amidst public scrutiny.
“This scandal is among the most significant in American history,” she remarked, underscoring the gravity of the situation despite O’Connor’s refusal to provide clarity.
