Angel Reese responds to Robert Griffin III regarding claims of 'hate' toward Caitlin Clark.

Angel Reese recently addressed sports media figure Robert Griffin III, referring to him as a “troublesome job” for allegedly spreading misleading information about her. This came after claims surfaced from someone close to the Chicago Skystars suggesting Griffin “hates” WNBA player Caitlin Clark.

While she didn’t explicitly mention Griffin in her post on X, Reese made it clear she was responding to the ex-NFL quarterback.

“It’s awkward job when you lie on this app and everyone knows that my circle’s first and last names matter,” Reese stated on social media.

The situation escalated when Griffin voiced strong opposition to the dissemination of racist comments about Reese, who is set to feature as the cover star for the NBA 2K26 WNBA edition.

Griffin made some serious allegations against Reese, prompting someone nearby to inform him of her supposed dislike for both Clark and another WNBA All-Star, a narrative that has gained traction since their competitive college games.

“This has to stop. There’s no place for racism,” Griffin posted on Thursday, along with screenshots of offensive tweets aimed at Reese. “Angel Reese should never be called or portrayed as a monkey. I kept quiet while threats targeting my family circulated on social media,” he continued.

“When Reese stated, backed by solid basketball evidence, that she hates Clark, I didn’t retaliate against her or her family. It’s not about love or hate; it’s simply sports,” he asserted.

Reese’s mother, Angel Webb Reese, pushed back against Griffin’s remarks on X, asserting that the narrative of animosity between her daughter and Clark was largely fabricated by media and fans.

“Let’s stop with the lies,” said Reese’s mom in response to Griffin. “My daughter’s circle is small, and I can assure you that the person you mentioned isn’t part of it.”

Reese, who was the first overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, and Clark, drafted seventh, maintain a competitive relationship, but it’s largely professional with no personal issues involved. Reese is notably recognized for her playful gesture towards Clark, which implies “You can’t see me.”

Griffin faced criticism over his reposting of a racist tweet about Reese. “Neither Angel Reese nor any Black individuals should ever be represented in such vile terms. If any hatred towards Reese stems from her being Black, that’s unacceptable.”

He concluded his thoughts on the matter by stating, “I will stand against racism at all costs because there is right and wrong. I choose the right side.” In another tweet, Griffin reinforced his claim that someone from Reese’s team suggested he should “tighten” her inner circle.

“I spoke up for Angel Reese against racism to prevent escalating drama,” he wrote. “But truth-telling is essential, and if it’s inconvenient for some, that’s on them, not me.”

In a broader context, this incident unfolded about two months after Griffin and his former ESPN colleague, Ryan Clark, made headlines by arguing with Reese and Clark during a tense game, responding to perceived fouls and conflicts.
