Criticism of Democratic Response to Immigration Raids
Former Democratic strategist Dan Trenne expressed his frustration during a Fox News appearance on Friday, highlighting that party members seem reluctant to criticize those obstructing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers.
A group of activists, including the Ventura County chapter of the Party for Socialism and Liberation and VC Defensa, encouraged confrontations during an immigration raid at a cannabis farm in Camarillo, California. On “Hannity,” Trenne specifically pointed out the lack of commentary from California Governor Gavin Newsom on these events.
“It really bothers me as a Democrat to see no pushback against people who are blocking ICE. In New York, some mayoral candidates are asserting that the police are the issue,” Trenne remarked.
He contended that the party is not taking a stand against those impeding law enforcement efforts.
Trenne emphasized the importance of common sense, citing disturbing images from confrontations between activists and ICE officers. “The public doesn’t even hear us discussing this,” he noted.
Federal agents recently found eight unaccompanied minors illegally working on Camarillo Farms, which led to an investigation regarding potential child labor, as stated by Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott on Thursday. The Democrats quickly condemned the actions against ICE, neglecting to address the discovery of minors, claiming it was an unjust targeting of innocent immigrants.
California has seen increased violence during anti-ICE protests, with support from groups like the PSL, which organized rallies in early June. These protests resulted in significant unrest, including hundreds of arrests, fires, and vandalism, prompting the National Guard’s involvement.
The FBI has offered a $50,000 reward for information that leads to the conviction of a shooter involved in a recent incident. This follows two separate shootings targeting law enforcement at a federal immigration facility in Texas earlier this month. ICE has reported a staggering 700% increase in assaults against its agents.
