Bernice King, daughter of Martin Luther King Jr., reacts to the RG3 Angel Reese situation.

Bernice King, the daughter of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., has shared her thoughts on the ongoing conflict involving WNBA player Angel Reese and former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III. In her response to Griffin’s comments on social media, she suggested, “The only way to find unity is to discuss differences in opinions and life experiences.” She went on to propose that Griffin should reach out to Reese directly instead of posting about her.

Her remarks sparked various reactions and debates online. Reese, in her own post, referenced the situation by saying, “When MLK’s daughter has to close the TF and tell her to talk about Angels.” On the other hand, Griffin alleged that someone from Reese’s circle confessed to him that they “hate” Caitlin Clark.

Griffin expressed support for Reese after a racially insensitive image of her surfaced following her appearance in NBA 2K26. He condemned racism, stating, “There’s no place for racism in the world,” while insisting that Reese should never be referred to in derogatory terms.

In his lengthy post, Griffin explained that he had remained silent amid the controversy because of the hostility his family faced. He noted, “That’s never alright for me. When Angel Reese made it clear she disliked Caitlin Clark, I didn’t attack her or her family. It’s just a sport; people have rivalries.” He emphasized that while some framed the situation through a racial lens, he chose not to.

Reese seemed to respond to Griffin by mentioning the challenges of dealing with falsehoods online, saying, “It’s a troublesome job when lying on this app and everyone knows the first and last name of everyone in my circle.” Additionally, Reese’s mother countered Griffin’s claims, asserting that no one from their circle had shared details about the alleged beef with the media or fandom.

In response, Griffin reiterated his support for Reese, stating, “I spoke in support of Angel Reese’s opposition to racism to avoid starting the drama.” He clarified that it was someone from Reese’s side who accused her of hating Clark, not the other way around. He emphasized his intention to celebrate the sport rather than becoming embroiled in conflict.
