Jimmy Rollins Celebrates Hole-in-One at Championship

Jimmy Rollins made a memorable exit from the American Century Championship on Saturday, leaving on a boat after achieving his first hole-in-one.

The former Phillies shortstop hit his ace on the 12th hole at Edgewood Tahoe Resort. In a celebratory moment, he jumped into a mastercraft boat, landing in the arms of NFL star Davante Adams. That boat? It’s valued at about $325,000.

“It’s kind of funny because I prayed for a hole-in-one last night,” Rollins shared. “And, well, it actually happened. The prayer was answered today.” It’s always interesting when things like that line up, right?

On that 139-yard hole, Rollins’ shot initially landed behind the hole, rolled toward it, and, to his amazement, dropped into the cup. He couldn’t believe it; after striking the ball, he placed his arm over his eyes, dropped his club, and leapt into Adams’ arms.

According to reports, Rollins remained in a state of shock as the third consecutive year where he achieved a hole-in-one was confirmed during the broadcast.

Standing on the boat, he extended his arms, posing for a photo in the picturesque setting.

Reflecting on his day prior, Rollins remarked, “I just wanted to show up and not feel ashamed, honestly.” He recounted how volunteers at the event assured him that “they really want to hand this boat over.” Oh, and he had some fun with how the hole was set up. “Yeah, it lands on the right and feeds on the left,” he joked.

Despite the excitement of the hole-in-one, Rollins found himself tied for 45th place as he headed into the final round, trailing behind co-leaders Joe Pavelski and Taylor Tulman, both former professional athletes.

Rollins enjoyed a successful 15-year stint with the Phillies, making three All-Star appearances and contributing to the team’s 2008 World Series victory. After one season with the Dodgers in 2015, he briefly returned to the White Sox in 2016.
