Kelly Clarkson Returns to Stage After Last-Minute Show Cancellation

After unexpectedly delaying her Las Vegas residency launch, Kelly Clarkson made her return to the stage last Friday.

She opened up to fans about the last-minute cancellation, explaining how it weighed heavily on her. “It took me a bit… it really did. I’m sorry if you had tickets for last weekend’s show,” Clarkson shared, expressing her appreciation for their understanding. “We can’t help our bodies sometimes… if we get sick. But thank you for showing up.”

She also mentioned how she felt relieved to be performing again. “I cancelled last weekend so it sounds incredible,” she said.

Kelly Clarkson Cancels Las Vegas Show Hours Before It Was Set to Start

Hours before she was slated to take the stage for opening night, Clarkson announced on Instagram her decision to postpone the show to safeguard her vocal health. “We’re open 24/7 and create the most intimate and extraordinary experience with my incredible fans,” she wrote. “I’m grateful you always show up for me, and I’m devastated to postpone the opening at Caesars tonight and tomorrow.”

“The preparation and rehearsals have really affected my voice,” she continued. “I want the show to be perfect for you all. I need to protect myself from doing serious damage, so I’ll be resting this weekend and next week to ensure I’m ready to deliver something worthy of your support.”

Later in the show, Clarkson celebrated with a shot of tequila handed to her by fans. “I’m celebrating because I had to cancel last weekend. I cried. I was very sick,” she remarked.

Fans took to social media to express their reactions. Some shared their disappointment regarding the late cancellation, especially those who had spent considerable money on tickets and travel. Comments ranged from sympathetic acknowledgment of her health to frustration over the timing. One fan from Boston wrote, “I’m a huge fan and spent thousands on tickets and hotels for my 40th birthday celebration. I want you to be healthy, but this late notice is tough on your loyal fans.” Another added, “We flew from New York for both weekend shows. Not devastated, but your health is what matters. Get well soon.”

Clarkson’s residency, titled “Kelly Clarkson: Studio Session,” is set to continue until November 15th.
