Incident in West Virginia Involves Driving Under the Influence
A peculiar case has emerged involving two individuals in West Virginia who took “driving under the influence” to a whole new level. Last Wednesday afternoon, police encountered 35-year-old Shannon Bryant and 48-year-old Matthew McDonnell in a stolen RV.
According to the criminal complaint, officers found the pair in questionable circumstances. As they approached the vehicle, McDonnell was seated in the passenger side, seemingly unfazed, while Bryant was driving and appeared heavily intoxicated. It’s reported that he candidly admitted to the officers, “we were [engaging in sexual activity].”
When pulled over, the couple reportedly scrambled to switch positions in the RV, perhaps hoping to create a more innocent portrayal of the situation. However, their efforts were in vain.
The police discovered various drug paraphernalia inside the RV, including a bag of white powder and broken glass pipes. Interestingly, Bryant confessed to throwing objects out of the window during their encounter with law enforcement.
Authorities checked the vehicle’s VIN and learned that the RV had been stolen from a nearby city known as Princeton, which is only about ten miles away.
Bryant and McDonnell have been charged with multiple offenses, including indecent exposure, DUI, possession of a stolen vehicle, and drug possession. Despite the circumstances, they have pleaded not guilty, which seems a bit surreal considering their situation.
Moreover, McDonnell has a history with the law and has an outstanding warrant from Tazewell County, Virginia. He is currently being held on an $8,000 bond.
