On Sunday, Democratic strategist David Axelrod suggested that President Trump might hold Attorney General Pam Bondy responsible for the release of documents concerning the controversial financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Axelrod expressed his thoughts on social media, stating, “Anyone who thinks Pam Bondy did a 180 and chose to hurt MAGA by releasing the Epstein file isn’t really paying attention.” He went on to assert that only someone with the authority and motivation could make such a move.
Meanwhile, right-wing figures, who have often shared conspiracy theories about Epstein, seem to be directing their frustration toward the Trump administration, particularly Bondy, following a recent memo from the Justice Department aimed at dismissing these unfounded theories.
This memo clarifies that there is no substantiated evidence that Epstein kept a “client list” or that he engaged in blackmail against any significant individuals involved in his crimes. It also determined that Epstein’s death was a suicide and rejected any claims of foul play.
In February, Bondy mentioned that Epstein’s client list was available for her review, but clarified Monday that she was referencing various files related to his case, not a specific list of names.
Trump has encountered some unexpected backlash from his supporters regarding the memo and expressed frustration during a Cabinet meeting, urging them not to waste time discussing Epstein.
Reportedly, Bondy had a disagreement with Associate FBI Director Dan Bongino, who has been vocal about the need for the release of Epstein’s evidence as a conservative media personality.
Despite the ongoing controversy, Trump praised Bondy on Saturday for her performance amid the turmoil, remarking on the collective pursuit of Bondy and implying their solidarity.
On Sunday evening, Trump shared that he had spoken with Bongino, affirming that he was in “good condition” and praised Bongino as a long-time acquaintance.
Inquiries were made to the Department of Justice and the White House for further comments.
