Former South Carolina Official Targets Lindsey Graham
Andre Bauer, a former government official from South Carolina, announced on Saturday that he is running to challenge Senator Lindsey Graham in the upcoming primaries. He expressed concerns about “liberal vipers” undermining former President Donald Trump’s legacy.
Bauer, who once served as the lieutenant governor, spoke with Breitbart News’ Matthew Boyle about his intentions to unseat Graham, who has held a Senate seat for multiple terms and recently backed Trump’s reelection efforts.
While Bauer believes he has the right credentials—claiming to be the “first conservative in reality”—he acknowledged that previous challengers to Graham lacked sufficient funding and name recognition. He feels he has an edge because he had won statewide office twice in his 30s, which could help draw more financial support.
“I’m a heartbeat away from the governor’s office, and my supporters are the kind of people who can help us across the nation,” Bauer noted.
He pointed out that candidates nationwide are rising to challenge what he calls “viper” members of the Senate, asserting that many of these rivals are ill-suited to carry on Trump’s agenda.
Bauer emphasized the need to remove figures like Graham, suggesting that doing so would significantly weaken the influence of the more liberal Republicans in Congress. He remarked, “If you get Lindsey, you cut off the head of their biggest viper.”
Bauer also criticized Graham for prioritizing foreign affairs over local concerns, highlighting that Graham has visited Ukraine multiple times but not his home county during his lengthy congressional career.
Commenting on Trump’s remaining time in office, Bauer warned, “Trump’s legacy is at risk alongside these liberal vipers in the Republican Party.”
The discussion also touched on Graham’s support for a bill imposing sanctions on Russia, which Bauer criticized for providing extensive assistance to Ukraine—an indication of what he perceives as Graham’s globalist tendencies.
