According to the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), an Iranian group known as the “Blood Covenant” has raised over $40 million in rewards aimed at the assassination of former President Donald Trump.
The movement’s website featured a poster of Trump with crosshairs, urging people to contribute “to help establish stable peace.” This poster even includes a line from the Quran stating, “I will strive for your wealth and your life in the cause of Allah.”
MEMRI noted that this is essentially a call to jihad, inviting followers to donate funds and even risk their lives. The group also claimed that the poster gives a religious justification for assassinating Trump.
This threat was made apparent just weeks after the U.S. executed a significant airstrike on Iran’s nuclear site.
Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and senior clerics, have increasingly called for Trump’s assassination. Some reference a Fatwa issued by Iran’s Grand Ayatollah in late June, which categorized Trump’s punishment as equivalent to that of a historical enemy of Allah and Islam.
MEMRI pointed out that these calls are echoing throughout all levels of Iranian society, notably through the media, reflecting a unified stance supported by the administration. There’s a concerted effort that emphasizes rewards for anyone who carries out these actions against Trump.
Iran has made claims that the president was injured in an Israeli strike last month.
A former Iranian broadcaster alleged that this particular crowdfunding website was created with the intention of promoting this so-called “blood contract.” The State Department has yet to respond to inquiries regarding this situation.
A senior official stated that the Trump administration is aware of the threats that have emerged against the former president.
