Teacher Arrested for Drugging and Assaulting Children

A teacher from a primary school in Nevada has confessed to drugging and sexually assaulting numerous children, including a two-year-old neighbor, according to police reports.

Taj Hilson, 62, was taken into custody in Reno on July 2. Authorities indicate her arrest followed a written apology she sent to a relative who had accused her of sexual abuse during their childhood and into adulthood.

The recent allegations were formally reported to police in April, as detailed in court documents.

It was noted that the defendant had allegedly gifted the victim by sneaking Benadryl into her food to sedate her before inappropriately touching her while she slept. This statement was included in the police report.

During a police interview on June 25, Hilson reportedly admitted to having abused women throughout her childhood, and she acknowledged that this behavior continued after she returned from university in 2014.

Authorities have stated that Hilson confessed to touching many other children in a local pool over recent years, including the two-year-old mentioned earlier.

She faces charges in two different cases, with police emphasizing that some alleged victims may resemble her students.

“These allegations are deeply disturbing,” remarked Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks, noting that some victims include infants. He expressed admiration for the courage displayed by adult victims who came forward to report the abuse, facilitating the pursuit of justice and the protection of others.

According to reports, Hilson was employed at Roy Gom Elementary School from 2022 until June 2025. However, police have stated that there is no evidence suggesting she harmed any students during her tenure there.

According to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, charges against her include one count of sexual assault of a child under 14, one count of sexual assault, and three counts of scheduled sexual assault with a child under that age.

Her bail has been set at $5 million.
