Whoopi Goldberg Critiques Obama and Cuban on Democratic Response
Whoopi Goldberg directed her criticism at former President Obama and billionaire investor Mark Cuban regarding the Democratic response to various actions and policies from the Trump administration.
Goldberg referenced Obama’s recent comments, where he advised Democrats to “just strengthen” during a private fundraiser in New Jersey. An excerpt from his statement was shared by Hill.
“I think you need to dig into your belly button and whine a little and be in the fetal position, and then the Democrats just demand that they strengthen,” Obama remarked.
In response to these comments on ABC’s “The View,” Goldberg reminded viewers, “Let’s recall who was on the frontlines during the big marches: it was the people. They came out.”
“They weren’t just ‘glaring at their belly button,’” she continued. “It was the elderly questioning, ‘Why are you messing with my social security?’ It wasn’t whining; it was people saying, ‘Why are my children losing their rights?’”
Goldberg also brought up Cuban’s recent remarks from an interview on “Pod Save America.” In this discussion, he criticized the overall messaging of Democrats, especially regarding recent tax and spending measures signed by Trump.
The law mentioned reduces federal Medicaid funding but places the decision on states to either contribute more resources or make cuts. Cuban emphasized that Democrats should be questioning governors directly about their Medicaid decisions rather than solely focusing on Trump.
“We choose the wrong pressure point,” Cuban stated. “It’s just ‘Trump sucks,’ that’s the main theme. Whenever Trump says, ‘The sky is blue,’ it’s, ‘That’s Trump smoke.’”
“That’s not a way to win,” he concluded.
However, Goldberg countered this critique by highlighting the active political engagement of Democrats.
“When you say you’re a Democrat, and he critiques our messaging,” Goldberg expressed, “that’s not accurate. Our message wasn’t lacking because people were out protesting.”
“Democrats are genuinely upset about what he tried to do last time. I was angry too. So, respectfully to both of you, when you call out Democrats, you’re looking in the wrong direction,” she asserted, addressing Obama and Cuban.
