A clear route to citizenship: Trump reveals the start of the Trump Gold Card visa program

New Visa Package Aimed at Retaining Foreign Talent

The Trump administration has introduced a new visa initiative that aims to assist major U.S. companies in keeping foreign talent. This newly launched program, announced by President Donald Trump, offers a quicker route to U.S. residency and potentially citizenship for a certain fee.

On a recent social media post, Trump shared details about the “Trump Gold Card,” emphasizing that it provides a direct path to citizenship for all qualified individuals. He expressed enthusiasm, stating, “It’s so exciting! Our great American companies can finally retain their valuable talent.”

The program features multiple tiers. Individuals can invest $1 million to receive U.S. residency in what officials describe as “record time” as part of the Trump Gold Card. There are additional options as well, such as the Trump Corporate Gold Card, which companies can acquire for a fee of $2 million.

Furthermore, a Trump Platinum Card, anticipated to be available soon, comes with a price tag of $5 million and allows foreign nationals to stay in the U.S. for up to 270 days without facing U.S. taxes on income earned outside the country.

Howard Lutnick, Secretary of Commerce, explained the benefits for companies, saying they can maintain a path for their talented workers to citizenship. If approved, these individuals can gain citizenship in five years, leading to the potential for the company to add another person to the program.

It’s worth noting that a $15,000 processing fee is required for all applications as part of the review process.

The Trump Gold Card operates similarly to a lottery ticket, catering to candidates with extraordinary abilities in various fields, specifically those eligible for EB-1 and EB-2 visas.

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem echoed the sentiment that this initiative is a way to bring the world’s top entrepreneurs and investors to the U.S. In her statement, she remarked that it aligns with President Trump’s vision for attracting high achievers.

This new measure seeks to address discrepancies that have surfaced in the H-1B program without outright discarding it. The response from the Gold Card office has yet to be officially communicated.
