Chicago Police cruiser collides during road occupation
A video captured the moment when a driver crashed into a police cruiser in Chicago that had been taken over by a group of teenagers overnight. The impact forced the cruiser backwards while the teens surrounded the vehicle, even jumping onto the hood as bystanders cheered.
You might assume that keeping your car in a museum, away from the roads, is a surefire way to dodge traffic tickets. Well, that’s not quite the case.
In fact, this anecdote involves a replica of KITT, the iconic car from “Knight Rider” that was famously voiced by William Daniels, who also played Mr. Feeny in “Boy Meets World.” The Boro Museum, located in the Chicago suburbs, features this Pontiac Firebird Trans Am as part of its exhibits.
Recently, however, the museum received a surprising ticket in the mail, indicating that KITT was allegedly caught speeding at 36 mph in a 25 mph zone in Brooklyn. The odd part? The car had never left the museum, let alone the state. To make matters more curious, the ticket included a photo of a black Trans Am with California plates reading “KNIGHT.”
Interestingly, that specific plate is the same one from the show and the replica at the Volo Museum.
So, how did a physical ticket end up in the hands of a museum housing a “Knight Rider” replica? That question remains unanswered. New York City officials have offered no explanation, while the museum staff are equally puzzled.
Jim Wojla, the marketing director at Volo Museum, shared his thoughts: “It’s fascinating that we have a legal connection to movie props. We’re recognized for housing Hollywood cars, yet we have no idea how tickets from New York and California plates found their way to the Boro Museum in Illinois.” They’re still trying to figure all this out.
Oddly enough, this same Trans Am is linked to five additional outstanding tickets in New York City. The museum plans to contest the ticket, and it seems likely they might win.
