A bar in North Carolina recently gained attention for its unique offer: women could enjoy free drinks by bringing in a photo of the man they had an affair with.

Johnny Dollars, a dive bar in Charlotte, held its first-ever “Same Guy Date Shit Night” on November 21, where they served over 130 free drinks to women across the city. It was reported that one attendee even showcased a picture of her affair partner.

The event’s concept was developed by Johnny Dollars’ social media manager, Sara Dessoudi, after she inadvertently posted a photo of a male customer while out one night.

“He reached out to me and mentioned that he faced some trouble because of the photo,” Dessoudi reflected in an interview. Understanding that her post might have embarrassed some, she decided to embrace the situation, pitched the idea to her managers, and it quickly garnered buzz.

The promotion received more than 600,000 views on Instagram that night, Dessoudi reported.

“We thought it would be a fun night. I mean, God forbid the ladies get free drinks,” she humorously explained, clarifying that the event wasn’t meant for collective grieving.

“We just wanted to have a good time with women who get what we’ve been through.”

Interestingly, a ranking from 2022 placed Charlotte as the 10th worst city for dating in the U.S. Dessoudi isn’t surprised by this.

“Women are just over it,” she stated.

Nonetheless, Johnny Dollars has established itself as a go-to spot for affordable drinks, vintage photo booths, and memorable moments, like the quirky portrait of a shirtless Michael B. Jordan in the women’s restroom.

“Honestly, the safest space in Charlotte is the women’s bathroom at this dive bar,” she joked.

Dessoudi mentioned that she hopes to plan a similar event for men in the future, although a date hasn’t been confirmed yet.
