Knicks Seek Hope Amid Playoff Struggles
In the world of sports, particularly when it comes to basketball, there’s an age-old debate about hope. There’s the perspective of Red from “Shawshank Redemption,” who believes “hope is dangerous” and can lead one down a path of madness. On the other hand, Andy holds a more optimistic view, stating that “hope is good, perhaps the best, and good things never die.” For Knicks fans, this playoff season seems to lean more towards Andy’s perspective.
Facing a challenging 0-2 deficit in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Knicks will head to Indiana. Josh Hart reflected on their recent playoff performance after a close 114-109 loss to the Pacers at Madison Square Garden, noting, “We played well on the road all year round. We’ve done well in the playoffs on the road, and while Indiana is tough, we have confidence in ourselves.”
Interestingly, despite their current predicament, the Knicks have shown a surprising strength on the road, going 5-1 in these playoffs, compared to a less impressive 3-5 performance at home. During the regular season, they managed a record of 24-17 away from Madison Square Garden. Conversely, the Pacers have proven to be formidable at home, with a commendable 4-1 postseason record at Gainbridge Field House and an impressive 29-11 during the regular season.
While the Knicks might be without their home fans for the next games, Jalen Brunson has some encouraging words for the team’s supporters. “Their unwavering support through the ups and downs means a lot,” he remarked, acknowledging the dedication of Knicks fans. “What I want to convey is that we have to keep fighting.” He emphasized focusing solely on the upcoming Game 3 and not getting ahead of themselves.
