Philadelphia Eagles Update
Things appear to be going quite well for the Philadelphia Eagles.
On one hand, the Eagles have managed to regain the top spot in the NFC after their recent victory over the Green Bay Packers on Monday night. The 10-7 score improved their record to 7-2 this season, placing them securely as the number one seed in the NFC. If the playoffs were to start this weekend, any path to Super Bowl LX would funnel through Lincoln Financial Field.
AJ Brown had a somewhat quiet game, being targeted just three times. One of those was a crucial fourth down late in the game where Jalen Hurts opted to run instead of pass. This decision raised some eyebrows across the league, even though Brown caught two passes for 13 yards. Notably, he has only reached the 100-yard mark twice this year but has managed to snag three receiving touchdowns.
If you happen to have Brown on your fantasy football team, his own advice might be to reconsider. Just thought I’d mention that.
Despite his performance, the statistics seem to be improving. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni faced numerous inquiries about Brown during a press conference on Wednesday, particularly due to comments circulating on social media the previous day.
When asked if he thought the comments were distracting, Sirianni maintained that they weren’t.
“No, I don’t think so,” he explained. “You can’t see it; we only know from interactions and daily work. It’s business as usual.”
Sirianni elaborated on Brown’s contributions, suggesting that statistics don’t always tell the complete story. He noted, “If you look at the flow of the game, there were plenty of situations meant for him that didn’t go his way for various reasons.” He pointed out an example where DeVonta Smith scored a touchdown that was intended for Brown, emphasizing that the numbers can sometimes be misleading.
“AJ Brown is one of the top wide receivers in the NFL, and we strive to include him in every game. Sometimes it works out well, as it did in games against the Rams or Vikings, and sometimes it doesn’t quite go to plan,” he added.
However, as the questions about Brown kept coming, Sirianni seemed eager to steer the conversation elsewhere.
“We’re getting close to wrapping this up,” he remarked. “He’s committed and is a significant component of our game planning, both now and moving forward. He works hard, and I’m thrilled to have him on the team.”
Let’s not forget, this team stands at 7-2 and has already won a Super Bowl.
