A.J. Brown start or sit: Fantasy football guidance for Week 3

The third week of the 2025 NFL season is here, with Sunday’s lineup featuring a rematch from last year’s NFC division, as the Los Angeles Rams head to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles at 1 PM.

Last Sunday, the Eagles managed to secure a victory against the Chiefs, a rematch from Super Bowl LIX, finishing the game at Arrowhead Stadium with a score of 20-17. However, all-pro wide receiver AJ Brown has been relatively subdued in his play, and it’s becoming quite noticeable given his usual performance.

Let’s take a look at what Brown’s situation looks like for fantasy football this week.

Fantasy Football Analysis: Eagles WR AJ Brown

Brown started the season as a top-10 wide receiver according to his average draft position. Yet, his performance has significantly dipped over the first couple of weeks. With just six receptions for 35 yards across two games, he currently sits at WR84 in PPR leagues and WR101 in standard scoring. It’s baffling because he has been on the field for about 87% of the offensive snaps in both games. So, what’s going on?

Firstly, the Eagles appear to be favoring a running scheme under new offensive coordinator Kevin Peturo, which is evident in their low passing rate of 40%—the lowest in the league, resulting in a mere 253 passing yards over two games. Both Brown and Devonta Smith haven’t had much of an impact this season. They’ve also expressed frustration about the offense, a stark contrast to last year’s Super Bowl run. Hopefully, they can bounce back in this upcoming home game against the Rams.

Should you start or sit in the PPR league in Week 3?

Start. Brown’s managers should definitely keep an eye on matchups this week, as there are some favorable ones to exploit. As noted by Johnny McGonigal from Pennlive, the Rams’ top cornerbacks, Coby Durant and Emmanuel Forbes, might be vulnerable due to Akelo Witherspoon’s broken collarbone. Brown had a standout game against Forbes in 2023, with three touchdowns, eight catches, and 192 yards across two matchups.

If there’s a chance for the All-Pro to break out of his early-season slump, Week 3 could be it.
