First on FOX: New reports from nonprofit and nonpartisan government watchdogs shed light on the tens of millions of dollars that have been poured into US universities in recent years.
Reports produced by Americans for public trust and Released this weekfound that $60 billion in foreign gifts and contracts have been injected into American universities and universities for just $2 billion at elite schools such as Harvard, Yale.
Of that total, $795 million comes from countries that have been longtime enemies to the United States, including China, Russia, Venezuela and Yemen.
“Amazingly, many of these schools are also top research universities that handle sensitive information and intellectual property,” the study states.

The report has the influence of strings and pitching from foreign actors abroad, amplifying concerns that this money is coming to American universities.
“For too long, an incredible amount of diplomatic funding has flowed into our university with little transparency or oversight,” Caitlin Sutherland, American executive director at Public Trust, told Fox News Digital.

“Many of these foreign funds can be traced back to countries where hostile relationships with the US have been established or engaged in direct or indirect malignant activities against our country. In the same period, we should hope that an increase in anti-American demonstrations and radical ideas will be raised in these facilities in order to expand the nurturing corporations nurtured in these facilities. Anti-Israel protests have erupted on university campuses around the country in recent years, with the report saying in 2024 that “some of the schools that received the most Qatari money include Ivy League members Harvard and Cornell University.”
“Sadly, since the horrific invasion of Israel by the terrorist organization Hamas in October 2023, both schools have seen a sharp rise in anti-Semitic violence and rhetoric.”

The report also documents concerns about money from China that are poured into Ivy League agencies.
“The impact of money flowing from China to university campuses is dangerous and widespread,” the report said. “In 2024, China poured more than $175 billion into US schools, making the historic breadth of this vast corporation impossible to undermine. Americans for public trust previously discovered nearly $130 million in Chinese funds only at Ivy League College in Pennsylvania in about five years.”
The study concludes that measures need to be taken to ensure that foreign influence is not prevalent in American schools, including the passage of the Deterrence Act. This concludes, “we will “protect influence across the United States through our higher education system, to prevent them from trying to spy, and to sow propaganda and sow.”
