The U.S. Marine Corps is searching for five Marines after a helicopter flying from Creech Air Force Base in Nevada to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in California went missing.

This was announced by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. CBS News It announced that a search and rescue team had been dispatched to search for the missing helicopter.
LT. San Diego County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Matthew Carpenter said the search operation began at 1 a.m. local time Wednesday.
Search teams were sent to the Cleveland National Forest area east of San Diego.
The search team is working with multiple agencies, including the Border Patrol and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
But Carpenter said the area had rough terrain and heavy snow. The search also took place during extreme weather that brought heavy rain and rare tornado warnings in the San Diego area.
The search is still ongoing and nothing has been found at the scene.
