The Rams had an impressive showing during Monday Night Football.
They defeated the Giants 28-6 in a game that marked the return of Aaron Donald, who many had eagerly anticipated.
After the Rams grabbed their first win of the season, Donald, 35, shared his thoughts in an interview.
“It felt good to be out there, get my first game under my belt after two years,” he mentioned during the ABC broadcast.
He acknowledged that readjusting to the intense demands of the NFL after retiring in March 2024 hasn’t been easy. “I’m a little sore out there, a little sore. Get my body back right and get back to work,” Donald said.
Even with his return, he found himself double-teamed frequently during the match. His overall performance included 32 snaps, 18 of which were for pass rush, encountering seven double teams, and recording three tackles, including one tackle for loss and one pressure on the quarterback.
The tackle for loss was particularly significant. With the Rams leading 14-0 nearing halftime, the Giants faced a crucial 3rd-and-2 inside the Rams’ 5-yard line. New York was likely looking to convert on fourth down if they gained just a yard.
But Donald intervened, breaking through to tackle Cam Skattebo for a two-yard loss, forcing the Giants to settle for a field goal.
In a nice touch, Donald’s family was present to witness his return. “They called me at least 20 times today,” he joked about his children.
Rumors had circulated about Donald possibly returning after the Rams traded for Myles Garrett, and, well, those rumors became reality.
And on the field, it seemed like Donald hadn’t missed a beat.
