Aaron Judge Reaches 350th Home Run Milestone
It didn’t take long for Aaron Judge to mark his 350th home run in Major League Baseball. The New York Yankees outfielder accomplished this on Saturday, hitting a shot into the outfield wall.
Notably, Judge reached this milestone faster than the former slugger Mark McGwire. Achieving 350 home runs is impressive by itself, and the timing only amplifies that achievement.
Judge hit his 350th home run in his 1,088th game. In comparison, McGwire hit his 350th during his 1,280th game against a pitcher from the Detroit Tigers back on June 2, 1997.
“Big Mac has done a lot of great things in this game, and he’s definitely a legend,” Judge commented, highlighting his respect for McGwire.
Despite the personal achievement, the Yankees lost the game 5-2 to the Chicago Cubs. Yankees manager Aaron Boone remarked that Judge is “playing in another league” after witnessing his performance.
Judge, who turned 33 in April, made his Yankees debut in 2016 at just 24. This season, he’s already leading the league with 35 home runs and 81 RBIs.
“It would’ve been nice to win today,” Judge said modestly after the game. He acknowledged the support of his teammates, suggesting they play a significant role in his success and ability to get into position to perform well.
Reflecting on a longer career, McGwire finished with 583 career home runs, ranking 11th on the all-time list. He faced controversies regarding performance-enhancing drugs, which he admitted to using back in 2010, and he has since been denied entry into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Judge revealed that he has maintained a relationship with McGwire since their initial conversation, suggesting a deep connection formed over shared experiences. “I think it started when I broke the first rib,” he recalled, explaining how McGwire reached out regarding advice on recovery.
