Judge Sets New Record with Home Runs
Aaron Judge, the New York Yankees captain, made headlines recently by blasting three home runs in just two games after a handshake with President Donald Trump. His latest achievement was particularly remarkable.
On Friday night, Judge hit his 362nd career home run during a game against the Boston Red Sox, surpassing the legendary Joe DiMaggio’s record of 361. This milestone positions Judge as fourth on the Yankees’ all-time home run list.
Reaching 362 home runs took Judge 1,130 games, while DiMaggio achieved his in 1,736 games. Interestingly, DiMaggio last homered on September 28, 1951, before serving three years in World War II.
Before hitting two homers against the Detroit Tigers, Trump happened to be in attendance. Prior to that match, he visited the Yankees’ clubhouse and met Judge and other players.
During a recent discussion, Trump remarked, “You need to win this game. If you can’t, you’ll make me look bad,” referring to the game Judge played. He praised Judge’s impressive physique, commenting on his large forearms, likening him to a weightlifter.
Judge, on his part, suggested that having Trump around might boost the team’s chances. “When he came here and said we would win, I think it gave everyone the confidence,” he noted. He expressed a desire for Trump to visit more often, maybe as a good luck charm.
For the season, Judge’s batting average now stands at an impressive .324. He broke a tie with Hall of Fame catcher Yogi Berra, now placing him fifth in the Yankees’ career list for home runs. Babe Ruth leads with 714, while Mickey Mantle and Lou Gehrig follow as well.
