The outcome of the first major abortion case to reach the Supreme Court was Roe v. Wade The bill, which was overturned in 2022, has disappointed many in the pro-life movement.
Case, FDA v. Hippocratic Medical Associationwas a doctors’ group that challenged the FDA’s deregulation of abortion pills after women were able to obtain them by mail without seeing a doctor. The Supreme Court dismissed the case.
“I know the law dangerously well.” Sara Gonzalez In a comment, he noted that the Supreme Court’s decision “was not about the specifics of the case, but about whether the group had standing to sue.”
In the opinion, written by Justice Brett Kavanaugh, the court found that the plaintiffs did not meet the bar for even bringing a lawsuit, in part because they had not shown that relaxing the FDA’s regulatory requirements would cause harm.
“So they’re not saying, ‘We don’t understand the issues you’re having with this,'” Gonzalez explains. “That’s why it was unanimous, because the decision wasn’t about morality, it was of course a technical issue.”
But Gonzalez doesn’t think the abortion pill should be so accessible.
“What they’re doing, particularly with this drug, is criminal in my opinion,” Gonzalez says. “If you follow their own labeling — the FDA’s own labeling — roughly 1 in 25 women who take this chemical abortion drug will end up in the emergency room — unless, of course, they bleed on the bathroom floor before that.”
“Under the direction of the Biden-Harris Administration, the FDA is allowing these women to take these high-risk medications without consulting a doctor or even going to an actual doctor,” she continues, linking this to the back-alley coat-hanger abortions that the left threatens.
“What’s so different about this?” she asks.
