Concerns Grow Amid Muslim Demonstrations in Dearborn
Recent events in Dearborn, Michigan, have sparked renewed discussions about immigration as members of the local Muslim community gathered to march and chant.
Footage from Sunday’s demonstration began circulating early that morning from a town known for its significant Muslim population, which has become a focal point in the national immigration debate.
One notable quote from the event was, “We don’t have an American flag, but we do have flags from many other countries.”
The gathering was identified as an Ashura procession. Video shared initially by Brendan Gutenschwager—and later by others—showed hundreds of Shia Muslims marching and actively engaging with one another while waving a variety of flags.
Intriguingly, none of the flags displayed were American, which left many observers unsettled; they noticed all the flags were from foreign nations, some featuring words in unfamiliar scripts.
This display has raised concerns for some about the assimilation of Muslims into American culture. Ned Leune, CEO of American Majority, remarked, “If you look at this and don’t immediately conclude that mass immigration is coming, then you’re fooling yourself.”
Comments from influential figures, including Elon Musk, echo similar sentiments, identifying the absence of American flags as a stark message. He stated, “Anyone who pledges allegiance to another country over the United States is, by definition, a traitor.”
Concerns have been pervasive, with voices like Gad Saad urging government officials, including President Trump and others, to consider the implications of such demonstrations.
Eric Doherty added that this isn’t what assimilation looks like: “It’s alarming. Dearborn is showcasing Islam prominently, and it seems they aim to establish dominance rather than integrate. This underscores the need to address Islam.”
