Recently, Leguizamo, a stand-in host for Comedy Central, The Daily Showreposted a photo of Trump showing his right ear intact.
However, the Trump photo in question was actually taken in September 2022, as proven by a fact check shared in a community note by X, who posted a link to a news article featuring the old image.
“Not even a scratch! But let’s squeeze all the milk out of this!” the actor posted.
The photo shows Trump with then-Ohio Senate candidate J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) at a rally in Ohio in 2022. Reuters The file photo has been circulating again in the media since President Trump declared Vance his vice-presidential pick on Monday.
As of mid-afternoon Tuesday, Leguizamo still had not removed the embarrassing post, even after being corrected in community comments.
The actor also mocked Trump for wearing a bandage on his ear on Monday, the first day of the Republican National Convention.
Meanwhile, “Star Wars” actor Mark Hamill has similarly spread the claim that Trump faked his ear injury.
On Saturday, a gunman tried to kill Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania, but he only escaped with a shot in the ear. Multiple media outlets showed Trump with blood coming from his ear and face, yelling, “Fight! Fight! Fight!”
