Actor Steve Buscemi Punched in Face — ‘Random Act of Violence’

NEW YORK (AP) — Actor Steve Buscemi is OK after being punched in the face by a man on a New York City street, his publicist announced Sunday.

The 66-year-old star of “Fargo” and “Boardwalk Empire” was assaulted in Manhattan late Wednesday morning and was taken to a nearby hospital with bruises, swelling and bleeding over his left eye.

“Steve Buscemi was assaulted in midtown Manhattan, becoming the latest victim of random acts of violence in the city,” a statement from his spokesperson said on Sunday. “He’s okay and appreciates everyone’s well wishes.”

Assault was first reported by new york post.

The New York City Police Department released an anonymous statement Wednesday regarding the assault. A representative for Buscemi confirmed on Sunday that he was the unidentified assault victim described by police.

Police said no arrests have been made and the investigation continues.

Buscemi’s “Boardwalk Empire” co-star Michael Stuhlberg was walking through Manhattan’s Central Park on March 31 when he was hit in the back of the neck with a rock. Stuhlbarg chased the attacker, who was taken into custody outside the park.
