Zachary Levi to Host “David: King of Israel” Docudrama
Fox Nation recently announced that actor Zachary Levi will lead a new four-part docudrama titled “David: King of Israel,” which is set to premiere in the first quarter of 2026.
The series, which will air weekly, promises to bring to life the compelling and complex story of David, the shepherd boy who became one of Israel’s most celebrated kings and is viewed as an ancestor of Jesus Christ by many Christians.
FOX Nation President Lauren Pettersson expressed excitement about Levi’s role, stating, “Zachary Levi is a natural fit for this series. His integrity and connection to the material really make King David’s story feel relevant for contemporary audiences. We are thrilled to collaborate with him on this project, emphasizing themes of faith, redemption, and profound purpose.”
“David: King of Israel” joins a growing collection of content within FOX Nation’s Faith division, which has recently unveiled the second season of “Martin Scorsese Presents: The Saints.”
The series claims to be “based on biblical texts yet presented with cinematic intensity,” aiming to provide a raw and expansive view of David’s life—marked by courage, conflicts, and ultimately, redemption.
Throughout the show, viewers will witness David’s transformation from a mere shepherd to a formidable warrior and a unifying figure for the kingdom. The narrative will include a vibrant cast of characters, ranging from powerful prophets to ruthless adversaries.
Levi shared his enthusiasm, reflecting on David’s journey: “Apart from the account of Christ, the story of David might be the most powerful in the Bible. Some would even argue that David’s imperfections make his narrative even more relatable. It’s a tale I’ve wanted to tell since childhood, so being part of this production is fulfilling for me.”
Known for his work in “Shazam!” and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” Levi has also made a name for himself in various roles, including NFL legend Kurt Warner in “American Underdog.” Additionally, he is the author of the memoir “Radical Love.”
