Christina Ricci, known for her roles in The Addams Family and Casper, expressed her support for the rioters in France, suggesting they are simply “protesting the state of the world.”
One user on Threads criticized the situation, declaring, “Stop calling what’s happening in France ‘protests.’ These are rioting MOBS,” to which Ricci responded, “Yes and those ‘rioting mobs’ are protesting the state of the world.”
Another user shared videos and images showing rioters vandalizing stores, lamenting the attacks on high-end brands like Celine, Burberry, and Louis Vuitton, stating how sad it is to see such destruction. They further questioned, “Regardless of how people feel about luxury brands, why destroy property? What did the stores do? There has to be a better way to express frustration than resorting to destruction. It’s just sad to see.”
Ricci, also known for her role in Yellowjackets, responded to this user too, suggesting, “Capitalism doesn’t need your grief.”
According to reports, France has experienced unprecedented rioting marked by widespread looting in major cities and arson attacks on government buildings. Over 1,200 arrests were made during what were originally planned as protests regarding living costs and educational funding.
Videos circulating on social media depicted Paris strewn with debris and broken glass, alongside the aftermath of vehicles and bicycles that had been set ablaze during the chaotic night.
One particularly shocking video showed the historic Limoges City Hall, built in 1883, partially collapsing due to a fire from an arson attack.
Amidst the turmoil, a known far-left extremist from the French government’s terror watchlist was apprehended following the destruction of Limoges City Hall. Meanwhile, allegations have surfaced about a communist “terror training camp” operating nearby.
Vice President JD Vance commented, “Western liberals imported the third world into France and other countries in the name of diversity and compassion. They ignored fundamental questions of assimilation and compatibility. They were told it would lead to this and they didn’t listen.” He added, “I pray that France, a beautiful country of amazing people, will stop this madness before more of its landmarks burn. And I hope Americans are paying attention. This is the future congressional Democrats seek for your country.”
One video captured a couple seemingly unfazed by the riots, enjoying wine and cigarettes on an outdoor patio while chaos unfolded behind them.
