Former Disney Channel actress Leigh-Alyn Baker recently shared a video that sparked quite a conversation. In it, she’s seen soaking her feet in ice water during a delayed flight, and the reactions have been mixed, with some praising her creativity.
Baker, recognized for her role as Amy Duncan in “Good Luck Charlie,” filmed the clip after being stuck on the tarmac for around two hours without much air conditioning. “SOS. I was on a plane sitting on the tarmac for 2 hours,” she wrote in her post.
“There is hardly any air conditioning! This and menopause are not a good combination,” she added. “So I decided to pretend it was just a day of dipping my feet in the pool to cool off. Guys, this is survival. Don’t judge.”
In a follow-up to Fox News Digital, Baker mentioned that she thought of the foot soak as a quirky solution, recalling how she had discovered the cooling benefits of ice during summer filming for a Christmas movie. “My feet felt hot,” she explained, adding, “And the thought of spending the day in a little pool seemed lovely…and hilarious.”
Rather than complain, Baker opted for a light-hearted approach. She said, “I could whine and complain about it, or I could get creative and make light of the situation and spread some laughter.”
She believes this relatable moment resonated with her followers because it showcases a degree of imperfection. “I think the world is looking for authenticity,” Baker suggested. “In a climate of social media that only imposes perfect lives and perfect moments, imperfection is refreshing.”
While her fellow passengers found the stunt amusing—“My friends in line couldn’t stop laughing,” she noted—public feedback was mixed. Some deemed her actions clever and relatable, while others expressed concerns over cleanliness.
In the comments, Baker clarified, “For the record…my feet have never touched the floor of an airplane. They went straight out of my shoes and into the pool.”
Etiquette expert Diane Gottesman, who wasn’t on the flight, pointed out that individuals should always consider how their actions affect those around them in confined spaces. She remarked, “As with any public place, we all have a responsibility to be aware of our surroundings and to show respect to those standing, walking, and sitting around us.”
Many social media users, however, championed Baker’s ingenuity, with comments like, “This is so Amy Duncan, I love it,” and praise for her creative solution. One user even called it a “brilliant” idea for stress relief during travel.
And while some questioned the appropriateness of her foot soak in a shared setting, others commended her for being resourceful. “I’ll steal that idea for my next trip!” one fan wrote. Overall, it was a moment that sparked a variety of responses—some laughing, some cringing—but many could appreciate the humor in an otherwise frustrating situation.
