Selma Blair Arrested After In-Flight Incident

Actress Selma Blair, recognized for her roles in films like “Cruel Intentions” and “Legally Blonde,” was reportedly arrested following an altercation on a Delta Air Lines flight to New York City. The incident allegedly involved her punching a flight attendant and biting a crew member.

As reported by TMZ, the 54-year-old actress was taken into custody on Sunday after she allegedly bit one flight attendant, injuring another during the journey to John F. Kennedy International Airport.

After the incident mid-flight, Blair was moved to Jamaica Hospital for evaluation. During this transfer, she reportedly kicked an officer from the Port Authority Police Department and later assaulted a nurse, who then opted to file charges against her.

The Port Authority Police Department confirmed that one flight attendant required medical attention after the plane landed. Audio from dispatch indicated that emergency responders requested medical personnel to meet the plane at the gate upon its arrival in New York.

“From what I’ve gathered, it seems there were two individuals – a flight attendant and a passenger who both suffered minor injuries, which included a bloody nose and some bite marks,” a responder was heard saying via dispatch. “I don’t think an ambulance is needed, but it would be good to have someone at the gate to check on them.”

The dispatch audio also suggested that Blair might have hit her head during the incident.

Subsequent communications indicated that law enforcement had already arrived, with the dispatcher noting, “And just to add, it seems like the disruptive passenger also hit her head on something in the cabin.”

Blair’s attorney stated that she had suffered a medical emergency on board but didn’t elaborate further. In 2018, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

“Selma faced a medical emergency that leads to the actions being reported. Once they landed, she received prompt medical care and is currently stable,” her attorney conveyed to PEOPLE on Monday.

Despite the pandemonium, Delta Airlines confirmed that the flight’s timetable remained intact. The aircraft landed in New York City ahead of schedule after taking off from Los Angeles earlier that same day. The airline also confirmed that law enforcement was present when the plane arrived.

This marks Blair’s second significant in-flight incident, the first being in 2016 when she was removed from an international flight returning to Los Angeles from Cancun, Mexico.

The FBI has initiated an investigation into this incident, as it occurred mid-flight and falls within U.S. jurisdiction.
