Adam Carolla claims Rosie O'Donnell and Kathy Griffin left comedy to oppose Trump

Adam Carolla recently shared his thoughts on the intense fixation some celebrities seem to have with former President Donald Trump. During a conversation with Dr. Drew Pinsky, he pointed out that certain political figures and celebrities might be sacrificing their true ambitions just to engage in a fight with Trump.

“As a politician, you might think you’re making a change, or standing up for something important,” Carolla remarked. “But really, you’re just fighting Trump.” He highlighted politicians like Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass, suggesting their focus has shifted entirely from their original goals to solely opposing the former president.

Carolla continued, using Rosie O’Donnell and Kathy Griffin as examples. “These are comedians who once wanted to create laughter,” he noted. “But now they’ve dedicated their time to battling Trump. Can you imagine setting aside a career for that?”

Pinsky chimed in, suggesting that such figures might lack someone in their lives to question their priorities. It’s not easy, he hypothesized, to maintain that level of commitment indefinitely. Carolla speculated that if someone were to express these thoughts, they might find themselves cut off from their circle.

He even imagined a hypothetical chat between O’Donnell and a friend, who might suggest doing something more lighthearted, like playing pickleball, only to be rebuffed. Pinsky remarked that this intense focus on negativity likely creates a toxic environment, though he agreed that it had to serve some deeper need.

Carolla reflected upon the nature of a comedian’s mind, suggesting that if they get idle for too long, their thoughts might drift towards unproductive areas. He compared it to having excess time as a comedian and venturing away from typical routines.

In light of their ongoing criticism, O’Donnell has continually spoken against Trump on social media since her relocation to Ireland post-election. She admitted to having promised to curb her comments, yet found it challenging to keep that promise.

Meanwhile, Griffin posed for a controversial photo last year, holding a fake bloody mask of Trump, stating she’s still active in her criticism. She has voiced the need to sort allies from foes, even encouraging discussions about neighbors’ political affiliations.

Fox News Digital has reached out for responses from O’Donnell, Griffin, Newsom, and Bass.
