Adarius Hayes, a linebacker at the University of Miami, was involved in a car accident on Saturday in Largo, Florida, reports indicate.
A representative from the Largo Police confirmed the incident, which resulted in multiple fatalities, although the identity of the driver has not been disclosed. The two-car collision occurred on Saturday afternoon in Largo, where Miami’s freshmen players are based near Tampa.
According to police, a Kia was making a left turn when it collided with a Dodge Durango. Authorities do not suspect alcohol played a role in the accident, as noted by reports.
Four-year-old Jabari Elijah Solomon and Charlie Herbert Solomon lost their lives in the crash, alongside several others who were injured, according to police statements.
“This is an ongoing investigation, and we don’t have more details to share at the moment,” stated Megan Santo, spokesperson for the Largo Police Department.
Hayes participated in 11 games primarily as a special teams player during his freshman year at Miami, and in September, he recorded four tackles along with one interception against Florida A&M.
Teammates and others from the football program have expressed their support for Hayes through messages of prayer. “I got my brother. I’ll keep fighting for you, #AD,” sophomore linebacker Raul Aguirre posted on X Saturday night, accompanying it with a prayer emoji and crossed fingers.
