Additional evidence that Letitia James is unwilling to perform her duties

New York Attorney General’s Record Under Scrutiny

New York Attorney General Letitia James presents herself as a staunch advocate for justice, claiming to hold powerful figures accountable. However, there seems to be a consistent theme in the news highlighting her lack of action on key issues, like addressing Medicaid fraud, pursuing tax evaders, and tackling street crime.

Recently, federal agents conducted raids on at least two adult day-care facilities in Brooklyn, part of a larger probe into over 100 locations suspected of committing Medicaid fraud, including activities such as money laundering and kickbacks.

Fraudsters are believed to siphon off billions—perhaps even tens of billions—in Medicaid funds in the state, while James’s record on investigating these crimes appears to be one of the weakest among state attorneys general.

Take, for instance, the case of convicted Wall Street fraudster Daniel Gordon. He owes the state an astonishing $59 million in unpaid taxes and penalties but lives freely in California, seemingly untouched by James’s office, which has reportedly done little to track him down.

It’s true that her office requires a formal request from state tax authorities to take action, but that shouldn’t be too daunting—a phone call should suffice. Instead, it seems she remains inactive.

James’s reluctance to tackle crime head-on has been underscored by her challenger, Saritha Komatireddy, who recently met with families of six serious crime victims. These everyday New Yorkers expressed their frustration over James’s ongoing failure to address public safety issues directly.

Throughout her career, it seems that James has focused more on defending criminals, and even as Attorney General, she often finds herself investigating police instead. Additionally, a whistleblower within her office has claimed that her focus has been largely consumed by her high-profile legal battles against Donald Trump and his businesses.

Setting aside partisan politics, the people of New York deserve an attorney general who prioritizes public welfare—someone who combats fraud, pursues tax evaders, and reinforces community safety. Yet, as long as James remains in the AG’s office, it’s likely that headlines will continue to reflect her inaction on crimes she’s overlooked, all while she chases after publicity.
