Words like “chocolate,” “coffee,” and even “water” may not seem all that interesting unless your two-year-old speaks with a strong New Jersey accent.
Elaina Christina, 24, a content creator from New Jersey, became a hot topic after posting a video of her young niece Javanna (Gia for short) on her TikTok account.
Today, Gia is welcomed with open arms by many New Jersey and New York residents thanks to her strong and endearing accent.

Elaina Christina said she didn’t realize how unique her accent was until later in life.
“I didn’t think about that until I went to college and I was meeting a lot of other diverse people, and then they were like, ‘Oh my God. Where are you from?’ she told Fox News Digital (asked for last name omitted for privacy).
She said she never felt embarrassed or self-conscious, even when people mentioned it or criticized her accent.

“It’s my roots. It’s who I am. I’m proud to be Italian-American,” she added.
“That’s where my family is from. I’m proud to have this accent.”

Gia spends most of her days with her aunt and grandparents, who also have strong Jersey vocalizations and mannerisms.
The girl is starting to appreciate her family’s unique Jersey qualities and her aunt said she couldn’t be more proud.
It all started when Gia asked Christina for chocolates. According to Christina, it was similar to the word “chocolate.”

Elaina was only amused by her niece’s pronunciation, but she wasn’t completely surprised.
“She’s in the same environment as us, but you wouldn’t expect her to have a baby accent, would you?”

Gia’s mother is also from New Jersey, and Gia’s father is also from Brooklyn, so she is surrounded by strong intonations.
”[Kids] “Children are like sponges. What you feed them is most important,” said Elaina.

Elaina said she didn’t realize how humorous Gia’s accent was until around Christmas, when she posted her first video of herself pronouncing certain words.
The video has so far received 18.7 million views on TikTok and at least 2 million views on Instagram.
“Cute Jersey accent I’ve ever heard,” one user commented on TikTok.

“She’s a jersey girl,” another wrote.

Another user commented, “She sounds like a baby version of you…I can see you all have the same accent.”
Elaina said she was “overwhelmed” by the response from viewers who liked the representation of their state.

“Sometimes it actually brings tears to my eyes when I see the pride of people like me in New York and New Jersey,” Elaina said.

“I’m very proud of the state. It’s where I grew up and it’s a major part of my personality, so I’m really proud of it.”
Elaina said she wants her niece to feel the same pride in her Italian-American heritage.

My aunt wants to start that positive mindset now. So every morning young Gia looks into her mirror and says, “I’m gorgeous,” in a strong Jersey accent.
