According to an upcoming book, an aide to President Biden informed a Democratic donor that supporting Vice President Kamala Harris would be “a mistake” and that it would be considered “a mistake” for Biden to withdraw from the race.
The Guardian released an excerpt from “Battle: Inside the Wild Battle for the White House” on Thursday, showcasing the friction between Biden and Harris before stepping away from the presidential race in July.
The excerpt indicated that Biden’s team was “actively” opposing donors who were contemplating replacing him due to his age-related concerns. One alleged strategy included warnings that switching to Harris as a potential Democratic candidate would be “mistakes.”
