New York Attorney General Letitia James recently claimed that President Donald Trump instructed people to visit her home. As reported on Saturday, she made these remarks during a rally at Pastor Al Sharpton’s National Action Network in Harlem on May 3.
James spoke about a perceived “bias” against women, as mentioned by Sharpton, and then shifted her focus to Trump.

James stated:
There’s this bias of low expectations. Somehow, it’s believed that women are not strong enough to stand up to U.S. presidents. I’m someone who deals with him daily. He knows my name personally—between me, Jasmine Crockett, and Letitia James. He’s trying to attack me.
Individuals have been standing outside my house and visiting it. Just last Sunday, while I was at church, there were people taking photos outside my home and posting them on social media.
This feels like a revenge tour. This is pure vindictiveness! It’s someone who is upset with me after we secured a $454 million judgment against him, his family, and his company.
In April, the Trump administration alleged that James could face prosecutions over supposed mortgage fraud, according to reports:
William Plute, director of the Federal Housing and Finance Agency (FHFA), sent referrals to Attorney General Pam Bondy and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, claiming James “falsified records” to qualify for a home in Virginia, which he alleged was falsely presented as her “primary residence.”
These accusations surfaced right before James initiated a civil fraud trial against Trump. She contended that Trump and his organization had inflated property values. Following the trial, which concluded with a ruling against Trump for $454 million, he is currently appealing.
In February 2024, Joel B. Pollak noted that the Associated Press’s review of legal precedents showed little support for suing businesses over alleged real estate inflation without actual victims.
“This record suggests that James has imposed various rules on Trump,” he added.
Additionally, reports indicate that the Federal Bureau of Investigation has started a criminal investigation into the mortgage fraud allegations.
James mentioned that her office is fully prepared to file a lawsuit against Trump at any moment.
During the May 3 event, it wasn’t clear whether she felt she was being followed at her property in Virginia or her Brooklyn home. The article noted that she chose not to elaborate on which social media posts she was referencing.
