US Attorney General Pam Bondy announcement Domestic terrorist accusations against three people accused of bombing Tesla vehicles and charging stations.
Liberal protesters are targeting Tesla vehicles and company locations to punish Elon Musk for his role in implementing President Donald Trump's policies. Some vehicles and locations have been destroyed with suspected politically motivated violence.
“The days of committing crimes without consequences are over.”
Trump has pledged to seek domestic terrorist accusations against violent Tesla attackers, and Bondi did a good job with that promise on Thursday.
“The days of committing crimes without consequences are over,” read Bondi's statement. “Let's make this a warning. If you join this wave of domestic terrorism against Tesla's property, the Department of Justice will put you behind the bar.”
One of the defendants has been accused of throwing eight Molotov cocktails at a Tesla dealer in Salem, Oregon. A second defendant has been arrested in Loveland, Colorado, allegedly attempting to launch a Tesla vehicle with a Molotov cocktail. The third suspect painted a spray paint message against Trump and Musk before attempting to attack a charging station in Charleston, South Carolina with Molotov cocktails.
In the final case, the witness said the man accidentally set the fire during the attack before fleeing the scene.
Bondi previously said the Justice Department would attempt to prosecute those who funded violent attacks on Tesla's property.
“If you're funding this, we'll come after you,” Bondy said. “We're going to know who you are.”
If convicted, suspects face prisons for a minimum of five years and a maximum of 20 years.
Democrats like failing vice presidential candidate Tim Waltz praised the efforts to hurt the mask company. The tech billionaire responded by laughing waltz at the results of the 2024 election.
Tesla has lost about 50% of its stock market value since the election, but it was previously one of the most performant stocks on the market.
