Aimee Lou Wood Mocks Co-Star Sydney Sweeney in Interview about American Eagle Jeans Ad

British actress Amy Lou Wood has responded to her fellow actress Sidney Sweeney’s recent statements in a GQ interview, where she discussed an ad for American Eagle jeans.

Wood, who portrayed Chelsea in Season 3 of The White Lotus, commented on a post by photographer Misan Harriman that included a snippet from Sweeney’s interview, adding a green puke face emoji.

Alongside her comment, Wood also expressed approval of Harriman’s post, which indicated that Sweeney created a commercial for American Eagle. Harriman also criticized the campaign, saying, “We recognize the harm your jeans campaign has done to black people.”

Harriman’s Instagram caption started off with a strong statement: “Even if you’re not a white supremacist, please acknowledge how horrifying it is that this campaign was promoted and celebrated by radicals who believe in eugenics.” He continued by calling for recognition of the adverse effects the campaign had on black people, stating, “The wordplay was evident, and it resonated with racists.”

Harriman concluded his statement with an important reflection: “Even if I didn’t realize it at the time, now I do, and that matters.”

According to coverage from Breitbart News, Sweeney maintained her stance against apologizing to what she referred to as the “woke mob” during a recent interview regarding the ad. When asked about the reactions, she simply noted, “I put out an ad for jeans.”

Following a brief pause, Sweeney added, “The reaction was definitely surprising, but I love jeans. Jeans are all I wear.”

In the interview, Sweeney reiterated her affection for jeans, noting their universality: “Jeans are great. You look great in jeans.”

When a reporter inquired about the surreal social media reaction to the ad, Sweeney agreed, describing the moment as “surreal.”

She also touched on the backlash, explaining that she was preoccupied with her work during filming, saying, “I just kind of put my phone away. I was filming every day.” Sweeney mentioned the long hours, suggesting that she didn’t follow the reactions closely afterward.

When prompted to discuss the campaign more specifically, Sweeney remarked, “When I have an issue I want to address, I believe people will listen,” but did not delve further into the topic.
