Air Canada passenger boards plane only to jump out of a door before it departs

An Air Canada passenger reportedly boarded a plane at Toronto Pearson International Airport and jumped out of the cabin door before it took off for Dubai.

The unidentified passenger “boarded the plane normally” but opened the cabin door on the Boeing 747 on Monday night without taking a seat. Airline officials told Global News.

He fell 6 feet onto the tarmac, sustaining unspecified injuries and alerting Peel Regional Police and other emergency services.

According to Air Canada's website, the flight's takeoff was delayed for about six hours as the crew investigated the scene and attended to the passengers.

A spokesperson for the airline, which is continuing to investigate the incident, confirmed to Global News that “all company-approved boarding and cabin operating procedures were followed.”

A spokesperson for the Greater Toronto Airports Authority also confirmed they were aware of the unusual incident.

“We worked with the airline, Peel Regional Police and Peel EMS to provide support and determine immediate needs,” the spokesperson said.

It is unclear whether the passenger was arrested for unruly behavior or what injuries he sustained.

The Post contacted the police department for more information.

Monday night's ejection marks the second time in less than a week that an Air Canada flight has been delayed due to unusual passenger behavior.

Police said other passengers and crew on the flight from Toronto to Calgary were able to restrain the young man, who was arrested and taken to a Winnipeg hospital.

An unidentified relative of the teenager was also treated at the scene for “minor injuries.” USA Today reported.
